Fortnite servers are back online after the scheduled v43.00 maintenance on November 1, 2026. Epic’s public status page lists Fortnite game services, login, parties, voice chat, and matchmaking as operational. If you still cannot connect, the problem may be a delayed update, a stuck session, or a local network issue rather than a continuing global outage.
When did the Fortnite downtime end?
Epic scheduled v43.00 downtime from 5:00 to 8:00 UTC on November 1 and said it would begin at 1:00 AM ET. Matchmaking was disabled 30 minutes before maintenance began.
The update introduced Fortnite Treasure Hunters, and the playable season was scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM ET. The difference matters: maintenance ending does not guarantee every player enters immediately. A game update, queue, or staged service recovery can delay an individual login even after the core systems return.
Our Fortnite Treasure Hunters start-time and map guide covers the new Crossbones Isle, One Piece powers, Captain Days, and U.S. schedule. This page focuses only on server status and connection recovery.
How to check if Fortnite is down right now
Start with the official Epic Games public status page. Fortnite is divided into separate components, including login, matchmaking, voice chat, parties, and the website. One feature can have trouble while the others remain operational.
If Epic reports an incident, local troubleshooting will not restore the affected service. Wait for an official resolution instead of uninstalling the game or changing router settings. If every Fortnite component is operational, continue with the steps below.
Install the v43.00 update completely
A console or PC can show Fortnite in the library while still waiting for the latest patch. Fully close the game, open the platform’s download queue, and confirm that no Fortnite update is paused.
Storage space can also interrupt an update. The download size is not always the same as the temporary space needed for installation. Free additional room, restart the device, and resume the update if the system reports insufficient storage.
Do not rely only on sleep mode. A full shutdown clears the previous Fortnite process and forces the platform to check the installed build when it starts again.
Fix a stuck “checking for updates” or login screen
- Close Fortnite completely. Do not leave it suspended in Quick Resume or console rest mode.
- Restart the console or PC. This clears a stale authentication session created before maintenance.
- Check the platform network. PlayStation Network, Xbox, Nintendo, or Epic Games Launcher can have a separate problem even when Fortnite itself is healthy.
- Restart the modem and router. Disconnect power for about a minute, restore the modem first, then the router, and wait for the connection to stabilize.
- Try a wired connection when possible. This helps separate a Wi-Fi signal problem from a game-service issue.
Changing DNS servers is not a guaranteed fix. It can help only when the existing DNS resolver cannot reach the correct Epic endpoints. Do not treat random DNS addresses from videos as an automatic performance upgrade.
Verify Fortnite files on PC
In Epic Games Launcher, open the Library, select the three-dot menu beside Fortnite, choose Manage, and run Verify. The launcher checks the installed files and replaces damaged or missing data without requiring a full reinstall.
Verification is useful after an interrupted patch. Reinstalling the entire game should be a last resort because it uses much more time and bandwidth while solving the same file-integrity problem.
What if login works but matchmaking does not?
A successful login proves only that the authentication service responded. Matchmaking, parties, and voice chat are separate components. Return to Epic’s status page and inspect the individual Fortnite rows.
Also test another playlist. A temporary issue can affect a specific mode or newly released experience without taking down all Battle Royale matchmaking. If one playlist fails but another works, avoid resetting the router or account password.
Do not unlink your Epic account
Unlinking a PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, or other platform account is not a normal server-outage fix. It can create account-access and progression confusion without repairing login services. Keep the account linked unless Epic Support specifically instructs you to change it.
As of publication on November 1, Epic reports Fortnite operational. Players still seeing errors should confirm v43.00 is installed, restart the game and device, verify files on PC, and check each platform service before considering a full reinstall.
