Pokémon Unite will end service on March 23, 2027 at 12:00 a.m. UTC, closing the Switch, iOS, and Android versions worldwide. For US players, that means the servers are scheduled to go offline on March 22 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern and 5:00 p.m. Pacific, assuming the published UTC time does not change.
The shutdown is still months away, but one important deadline has already passed: sales of paid Aeos gems stopped on October 27, 2026. The practical question now is not whether the game is closing, but what players should spend, download, and verify before access disappears.
When does Pokémon Unite shut down?
The official end-of-service notice gives a single worldwide deadline: March 23, 2027 at 12:00 a.m. UTC. That converts to the evening of March 22 in the continental United States:
- 8:00 p.m. Eastern
- 7:00 p.m. Central
- 6:00 p.m. Mountain
- 5:00 p.m. Pacific
After shutdown, players will no longer be able to log in, battle, or use the normal online game. Support for the title also ends, so waiting until the final hours to resolve an account problem is risky.
What happens to Aeos gems and Unite Club memberships?
Paid Aeos gem sales were suspended on October 27 at 5:00 a.m. UTC. Players can no longer buy more, but any gems already in an account remain usable until the service ends. There is no benefit to saving a paid balance past the shutdown date because the live shop and game will no longer be accessible.
The US notice does not announce a general refund program for unused gems. Players should therefore rely on the published rules, not social media claims about automatic refunds. The safest move is to check the balance now and plan purchases well before March.
New Unite Club memberships and automatic renewals also stopped on October 27. An active member keeps the membership benefits through the end of the current paid period. Check the subscription page on the platform where the membership was purchased, especially if a mobile storefront still displays an old renewal date.
Download the Library data before the servers close
A farewell update scheduled for November 12 adds a Library feature. It is designed to preserve access to selected records and memories after the online service ends, but there is a critical condition: players must download the required Library data before shutdown.
The official notice says the Library can remain accessible after the servers close only when its data has already been downloaded. It also warns that Library data generally cannot be transferred to a different device. That makes the device choice important. Install it on the device you expect to keep, confirm that it opens correctly, and avoid deleting the game or clearing its local data afterward.
What is still happening before the end?
Pokémon Unite is not freezing immediately. A special farewell event and update begin November 12, and the Aeos Crown 2027 qualifiers are scheduled to start December 5. Players who want one last competitive run still have several months, but the spending and preservation deadlines should come first.
The situation is different from active seasonal games such as Pokémon GO Halloween Part 1 and Part 2, where event content rotates while the underlying service continues. Here, every remaining event sits on a fixed final timeline.
Pokémon Unite shutdown checklist
- Spend remaining paid Aeos gems before March 22 in US time zones.
- Verify when an existing Unite Club period ends and save any purchase receipts.
- Install the November 12 update and download the Library package.
- Open the Library on the device you intend to keep and confirm that its content works.
- Resolve account, purchase, or login issues well before support ends.
- Take personal screenshots or recordings of favorite builds, rankings, and team memories as an extra backup.
The most important takeaway is simple: the servers close in March, but the preservation work starts in November. Downloading the Library data and using any remaining paid currency early will prevent the two losses players can still control.
