EA Sports FC 27 has three editions, but only two are still available to buy. Standard gets you the complete game for $69.99 on PlayStation; Ultimate costs $99.99 and adds FC Points and other extras. Ultimate Plus was a limited preorder that ended in August.
Every edition includes the full FC 27 game and its core modes. What changes is when you can play and which digital rewards you get. As of September 24, Ultimate Plus is no longer on sale. EA’s official editions breakdown confirms its August 31 cutoff.

Standard Edition: the complete game for $69.99
Standard is enough if you mainly play Career Mode, face friends, or build an Ultimate Team without buying FC Points. It unlocks on September 25, 2026. You aren’t losing a core mode.
An eligible preorder adds Career challenges, three ICONs or Heroes, a five-star coach, and a five-star youth scout, plus cosmetics and boosts for The Grounds. Certain digital preorders include an untradeable 92+ ICON item for FC 26, provided you own that game. EA excludes Nintendo and physical preorders from this FC 26 offer. These rewards aren’t permanent Standard Edition features.
Ultimate Edition: what does the extra $30 buy?
Ultimate includes 6,000 FC Points, delivered in three monthly installments of 2,000. It also gives Football Ultimate Team players an additional Player Evolution slot. In Career, you get a five-star senior scout and five extra Manager Live challenge creation slots, along with the Career and The Grounds content included in the higher-tier package.
Preorder Ultimate before launch and you also get the Season 1 Premium Pass. The 85+ International ICON was a different promotion that required an Ultimate preorder by August 31. Buying Ultimate now won’t bring that particular item back.
The advertised seven days of early access began September 18. If you’re shopping on September 24, nearly all of that window has passed. Ultimate can still make sense if you’ll use the FC Points and Season 1 Pass. Paying $30 for a few remaining hours of early access is a tough sell.
Ultimate Plus: more FUT rewards, but no longer available
Ultimate Plus was aimed squarely at dedicated Football Ultimate Team players. It bundled 10,000 FC Points across five monthly drops, Premium Passes for Seasons 1 through 5, an untradeable 85+ International ICON item, and a one-of-five Hall of FUT player pick. It also included an additional Evolution slot and the early access available with Ultimate.
EA only sold this edition during its early preorder window, from July 23 through August 31, 2026. It was never offered on either Nintendo Switch platform or the Epic Games Store. You cannot buy it now, and EA says an Ultimate purchase cannot be upgraded to Ultimate Plus. If you already preordered it, though, remember that its FC Points arrive over time rather than all at once.
Two catches before you choose
First, FC Points do not all land in your account on purchase day. The initial drop is tied to your first eligible login, with later drops following monthly. That matters if your plan involves spending the entire advertised amount at the start of Ultimate Team. The Season 1 Premium Pass is also a preorder benefit for Ultimate, while the larger five-season bundle belonged to Ultimate Plus.
Second, check your platform before valuing The Grounds rewards. The Grounds, including Clubs, is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2. It is not available on PS4, Xbox One, or the original Switch. A cosmetic for a mode your version cannot run is not much of a reason to spend more.
For most players, Standard is the straightforward buy. Ultimate is worth considering if you already planned to spend on FC Points and will use its other bonuses.
