Pokémon GO is giving every Trainer a free chance to earn Gigantamax Machamp, but the claim window is short. You must open the game by Sunday night to receive the Timed Research, then finish it before a separate completion deadline.
When can you claim the free Gigantamax Machamp research?
The claim window runs from Friday, November 6, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. local time. “Local time” means the deadline follows the time zone where you are playing, so U.S. Trainers do not need to convert from Pacific or Eastern time.
According to the official Pokémon GO announcement, logging in during that window adds the GO Wild Area: Gigantamax Machamp Power Up Timed Research to your account. Open the game before Sunday ends even if you do not plan to complete the tasks immediately.
What rewards are included?
The free Timed Research awards:
- An encounter with Gigantamax Machamp
- Machop Candy
- Machop Candy XL
- Max Particles
The Machamp encounter can be Shiny, but a Shiny is not guaranteed. The Candy and Max Particles are designed to help prepare Machamp for Max Battles, including the powerful Gigantamax Duraludon appearing around Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global.
This is not a promo code and you do not need to visit the web store. The reward is delivered through in-game Timed Research after an eligible login. Avoid sites claiming that a code is required.
When must the tasks be completed?
The research itself expires on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. local time. All tasks must be finished and every reward must be claimed before that deadline. Completing a task but leaving its reward unclaimed can still cause you to lose it when the Timed Research disappears.
The two deadlines serve different purposes:
- November 8: last day to log in and receive the research.
- November 15: last day to complete the tasks and claim all rewards.
Take a screenshot of the research page after it appears. That gives you a quick reference for remaining tasks and confirms the research was attached to your account.
What to do if the research does not appear
- Update Pokémon GO from the App Store or Google Play.
- Restart the game after reaching the main map.
- Open the research menu and check the Today or Events sections.
- Confirm that your phone’s date, time, and time zone are set automatically.
- Make sure you logged in before the November 8 local deadline.
If the offer still does not appear during the active window, use the in-game Help menu to contact support. Include a screenshot of the research tabs, your device model, app version, and the approximate login time. Do not share your password or account recovery codes.
How should you use the rewards?
Do not spend all Candy XL immediately. First compare the Gigantamax Machamp’s appraisal with any Machamp you already use. Max Battles also depend on upgraded Max Moves, team coordination, and survival, not just Combat Power.
Max Particles have a storage limit, so check your current balance before collecting every reward at once. If you are close to the cap, spend particles on a useful Max Move upgrade before claiming more. The official research is meant as preparation for GO Wild Area, but the Machamp remains useful after the event window closes.
