Fortnite Honey Sprite: Where to Find It and How It Works

The Honey Sprite joined Fortnite on October 15 as part of Fortnitemares 2026. It is a defensive helper that sends bees after enemies who damage you. You can find it in Pumpkin Chests across the Battle Royale island, but it is not tied to one guaranteed landmark.

Where do you find the Honey Sprite?

Search Pumpkin Chests scattered around the island during Fortnitemares. Epic says these seasonal containers hold Sprites, including the Honey Sprite and the Obsession Sprite added on the same date.

Because the official notes do not promise a fixed Honey Sprite spawn, avoid landing at one location expecting a guaranteed pickup. Choose an area with several chest opportunities, open Pumpkin Chests quickly, and keep moving if the first one contains a different Sprite.

Our Fortnite Nitemare Island Reload guide covers the separate Reload rotation. The Honey Sprite information here applies to the Battle Royale Sprite system.

What does the Honey Sprite do?

Once equipped, the Honey Sprite’s power sends bees after an opponent who damages you. It is a retaliation effect, not a projectile you manually aim. That makes it most useful when an enemy commits to a fight and gives the bees a clear target.

Epic has not published precise damage, cooldown, or range values in the event notes. Claims that it always wins a duel or activates at a specific distance should therefore be treated cautiously. Its real value is pressure: an attacker has to keep fighting while also dealing with the response triggered by hitting you.

How to use it effectively

  • Keep cover nearby. The Sprite responds after you take damage, so it should not be an excuse to stand in the open.
  • Favor committed fights. The counterattack is more useful against an opponent who cannot immediately disengage.
  • Carry mobility. Reposition while the bees create pressure instead of chasing in a straight line.
  • Protect the Sprite. If you are eliminated before banking it, the Sprite remains on the battlefield for another player to collect.

Sprites become stronger as you explore, earn eliminations, and survive Storm phases. Leveling the Honey Sprite can improve its perks and loot, so surviving with it matters more than forcing the first fight you see.

Can you use the Honey Sprite in Ranked or competitive play?

Epic’s support page says Sprites are not available in competitive modes. If you cannot find the Honey Sprite, first confirm that you are playing a supported Battle Royale playlist rather than a competitive queue.

This is also why tournament strategies should not be built around the bee effect. The Honey Sprite is a seasonal Battle Royale tool and collection target, not a universal item across every Fortnite mode.

How long is it available?

Fortnitemares runs through November 1. Epic can adjust loot rates and availability during the event, so the Honey Sprite is worth collecting before the final weekend rather than assuming it will remain unchanged.

The design came from community creator Conejito_sam and was selected through Fortnite’s Design a Sprite program. That origin explains its distinctive honeycomb theme, but its in-game role is straightforward: find it in a Pumpkin Chest, equip it, and let the bees punish an attacker.
